the number of的用法

the number of意爲…的數目；…的數量，其後接可數名詞的複數形式。作主語時，謂語動詞用第三人稱單數形式。the number of跟複數名詞連用作主語時，中心詞是number，謂語動詞要用單數。

例如：

1、The number ofstudents in our c1ass is50（我們班學生的數量是50人）。

2、The number of pages in this book is 60（這本書有60頁）。
